8 home games left for Hunters

The SP PNG Hunters have eight more home games left to be played this season at the National Football Stadium.

This was announced by CEO of the PNG Rugby Football League (PNGRFL), Bob Cutmore after his meet with Queensland Rugby League.

The Hunters will leave this Sunday for the ANZAC Day clash against the Burleigh Bears in Brisbane.

Cutmore said after this game, the Hunters will have four days to prepare for their home game against the Redcliffe Dolphins on the 1st of May at 3pm.

“The match against Redcliffe is another important game. The annual Stan Joyce Cup will be played for and the Hunters will be out to retain the Cup.

“Despite this weekend’s result, the Hunters will still be in the top three. Redcliffe are also in the top five and we need all the support we can get from the residents of Port Moresby to turn up at the NFS to support the Hunters.

“This will really be appreciated by the players,” said Cutmore.

After the Redcliffe game, there will be seven more home games remaining with two lots of three consecutive home games.

“Saturday June 4 is against Northern Pride at 6.30pm. Saturday June 11 is against South Logan Magpies at 6.30pm while Sunday June 19 the Hunters will play Wynnum Manly at 3pm,” said Cutmore.

“After three away games, the Hunters return to the National Football Stadium. Sunday July 24 is against East Tigers at 3pm, Saturday July 30, the Hunters play current premiers Ipswich Jets at 6.30pm and the next weekend is on Sunday August 6 against Burleigh Bears at 3pm,” said Cutmore.

Cutmore said the final season proper home game will be played on Sunday August 28 at 3pm against the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

“The finals series follows the weekend after and depending on where the Hunters end up on the ladder, a home finals game is possible,” said Cutmore.

Cutmore said an updated draw is being printed and will be distributed through in the media as well as various shops and retailers.
