22 Men of Honour finalists undergo awareness workshop

Finalists and winners from the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 Men of Honour Awards participated in a two-day workshop this week in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The aim of the workshop was for them to get to know each other and understand the work they do in their communities.

The Men of Honour Awards is a campaign against violence initiated by Digicel PNG Foundation.

Digicel Foundation community development manager Hane Toua said the workshop helps to achieve the outcome of the Men of Honour Award.

This is to form a brotherhood of men who can reach out to each other, helping each other through difficult times to help Digicel Foundation with its aim of overcoming violence in PNG.

The 22 participants got to share their successful stories within their categories during the workshop.

Toua said the event was all about sharing ideas and what they do in the space of building better communities.

“Some of the topics discussed during the workshop include the things that they can do to support each other.

“Also what they aim to achieve with regards to education and pushing small to medium enterprises forward through their entrepreneurship and what else they can do in sports,” Toua said.

The participants said they were happy and excited to be part of the Men of Honour Awards initiative and thanked the Foundation for the support.

They will now prepare to carry out an awareness program on the Men of Honour Awards throughout the country.
