Polye blasts Budget as for “a few contractors’’

The government had sabotaged the budget process by depriving the people of the country the right to debate their budget.

Opposition Leader Don Polye says that the government purposely sabotaged this by bulldozing the budget through Parliament.

He says  this is against the normal conventional approach to addressing the Budget as well as the Westminster system of government.

Polye says that the issue of the motion of no-confidence as well as the Budget will be addressed in due course pending his efforts to take legal action into the breached processes by the government.

He says that there is a 48 page response in full assessment and analysis of the government’s budget books, revealing that the Budget was sabotaged allegedly as it was a “paper budget” set to benefit “a few political cronies’’.

He said that there was no money to finance it and it did not reflect reality with wrong figures and estimated growth levels with many irregular figures.

He said the Budget was not for Papua New Guineans but meant for 5 to 6 contractors who were now doing road works and infrastructure development to pay them off.

Polye says that on close inspection he realized that there was nothing for agriculture, SME’s, universities and skills development had all missed out.

Another big miss that has been spotted is that fact that there is nothing for the current 24 month drought with nothing also mentioned of the revenue coming in from the LNG project.

He alleges that the Government is also bleeding money from the state owned enterprises and called on the Prime Minister to  explain why the Budget had many errors in projection figures as well as the data stated not adding up.
