Two new judges for 2017 Men of Honour award cycle

Two Papua New Guineans have agreed to join the independent panel of judges for Digicel Foundations 2016- 2017 Men of Honour Awards cycle.

Announced today, Digicel Foundation Board Chairman, Douveri Henao announced that Professor Betty Lovai and Dadi Toka Jnr will be the judges of the two new categories that were launched last year.

Dr Lovai is UPNG’s Executive Dean for the School of Humanities and Social Science and will be judging the Allen Mahuru Posthumous Service Award.

Judging the Young Men of Honour Award will be Dadi Toka Jnr.

Toka is the current CEO of Cancer Foundation and a young entrepreneur who has great administration and enterprise skills very much involved in volunteering for non- profit organizations.

Dr Lovai and Toka will be joining existing judges for Community Entrepreneur Award Category, Cassandra Rangip; Community Education Champion Award Category, Erik Kwa; Community Leadership Award Category, Sarah Haoda- Todd; Community Ingenuity Award Category, Jimmy Drekore and Sporting Mentor Award Category, Superintendent David Terry.

A total of 94 were submitted from all over PNG of which judges will have the difficult task of screening and selecting category finalists.

The winner will be announced at the Men of Honour Gala Night on March 25, 2017 in Port Moresby.

Hanao thanked the judges for accepting to be part of the Foundations campaign against violence and proving the experience and expertise and time for the judging process.

The Men of Honour Awards is an innovative campaign against violence, promoting ordinary men doing extraordinary things in their communities.
