POM South Churches partnership

Moresby South District Development Authority continues to assist communities and groups in the electorate.

Recently the district authority contributed to the offerings of the church groups, funds between K2000 and K5000, towards Christmas activities.

On December 15th Moresby South Electorate District Administrator, Aisop Mol delivered K360,000 worth of tithes paid to several church and fellowship groups from Moresby South in Port Moresby.

You all play important part in what we do in the communities. You are there to maintain peace, order, and harmony in the communities. You do a lot of great work. A lot of places where police can’t go, a lot of places you are already there maintaining peace and order and swe appreciate that,” Mol said.

Representing the local member, Mol said the donation is for the churches to host Christmas activities with their members.

“In the last 10 years we’ve been working with the churches giving to all the 10 percent including infrastructure of church facilities, roads to churches and church buildings and we’ve also supported different church programmes in different churches and denominations that you all come from,” he said.

In the last 10 years, Moresby South DDA has supported churches in tithes besides social services such as education and health training and infrastructure.

He mentioned in particular the assistance to the Foursquare Church-run Kaugere Health Services, and education programs of the Catholic Church and United Church.

Moi said they appreciated the work that churches do and so will continue.
