New media studio to help Department

In an effort to better facilitate for news and coverage of community based initiatives, the Department of Youth, Religion and Community Development have launched a multimedia studio.

The studio at a cost of K200 thousand is set to cut production costs by half a million kina for the department, a cost saving measure that was welcomed by both the Department Secretary and the Minister who were on hand to witness the opening this afternoon.

The new department multimedia studio is herald as a culmination of two years of planned out media development initiatives.

In her address this afternoon, Department Secretary, Anna Solomon, thanked the media as vital partners in facilitating for the departments effort to ensuring that the community is educated about vital development issues.

Meantime, the Minister Soroi Eoi who officiated at the ceremony also took the opportunity to thank the visually impaired band on hand to celebrate with the department.

The White Cane band was given K18,000 to purchase equipment to help them in their performances.

Meantime, the multimedia studio located at the department office is set to help the media unit in packaging out pieces to send out to their media partners.

The Media and Communications Manager, David Nugi explained that the studio was to help deal with the production and accessibility challenges that media houses face in getting content.
