NCDC sets up Kadovar relief

The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) has set up a relief Appeal Centre to support the disaster relief efforts of Kadovar, Ruprup and Biem Islands in the East Sepik Province.

A tent has been setup at City Hall to co-ordinate the Relief Appeal and any individual or business houses willing to assist this worthy cause is urged to call into City Hall to make a donation.

NCD Governor, Powes Parkop and City Manager Leslie Alu, announced the relief efforts of the Commission on Monday with a strong appeal to the general public and business houses in the city to contribute to relieve the plight of the people of East Sepik.

Governor Parkop said, “Our people in East Sepik need our help at this time of disaster and it is important that we take time to think of them and more importantly consider assisting with much needed relief assistance in cash or kind to alleviate the hardships faced by the people at this time,”

Those wanting to assist in cash can also make direct deposits into the Kadovar Island Disaster Relief Account (ACC# 7012180928), BSP Wewak.

As part of the relief appeal, two open back vehicles will also be visiting the three electorates of the city this week to collect donations from city residents and business houses.

City residents are encouraged to donate clothing, cooking utensils, food and other necessities to help the people of three Islands.

For donations the public can also call the Port Moresby East Sepik Relief Appeal Coordinator James Yalya on 73080529.
