Lera presents Kobuan SDA with new truck

Minister for Bougainville Affairs and Bougainville’s Regional Member Joe Lera officially presented the keys of a new truck to the Kobuan Seventh Day Adventist church in Arawa on Wednesday, April 19.

The truck was funded under the 2016 Provincial Services Improvement Program (PSIP) at the cost of K130, 000.

The ceremony was witness by SDA church members and also the community of Kobuan village whom for the first time have received assistance from the government.

The Kobuan SDA church took the initiative in seeking assistance to improve and strengthen their outreach programs and activities in the region.

Bougainville SDA Mission President, Andrew Opis upon receiving the key to the truck thanked Minister Lera for his continuous support towards the churches in Bougainville.

President Opis said this is the first of its kind that one of the SDA churches in Bougainville has received such a gift from the government.

Opis also announced that the SDA Bougainville Mission has developed a strategic Plan 2016- 2024 that focuses on rebuilding and strengthen peace in Bougainville.

He said the strategic plan 2024 is aligned with the National and the Autonomous Bougainville Government goals to promote growth and development.

President Opis said the truck will be of great use to the Kobuan SDA church in their outreach programs and activities that includes reconciliation, peace building awareness, drug and alcohol awareness and boundary ministries.

He challenged the Kobuan SDA church transport committee to look after the vehicle and to manage it well to the best interest of its church members and the general community of Kobuan.

Lera said the support given towards Kobuan SDA church is driven by his vision under his 10th transformational pillar on Spiritual Formation.

Christian values and also service delivery to the people.
