Interim chairman vows to restore services

The newly-appointed interim board chairman of Porgera Development Authority has vowed to restore all the services that had once been active in the mining region of the Province.

He said services like markets and law and order are currently lacking in area.

It has been noted that Porgera has not progressed in terms of development because the Porgera Development Authority was not functioning.

Interim chairman Thompson Kolera suggested restructuring and restoring processes in the Authority will be a step forward in the right direction.

The special purposes authority for Porgera, known as the Porgera Development Authority, swore in its interim board members on February 16.

Meantime, the Secretary for Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs, Dickson Guina, says the members of the board must understand each of their roles in order to effectively serve the people of Porgera.
