Human resource key to development

Papua New Guinea’s potential remains in its human resource and they must be developed with the appropriate Government support.

This is the message from Life PNG Care National Director, Collin Pake, when receiving a donation of K1,500 from Port Moresby social club, Hash House Harriers.

He said a lack of leadership failed to address many of the social problems experienced in the city, particularly orphaned and homeless kids and youths, while more attention is given to other areas.

“The potential of our country is not in any other resources. Human resources are the building foundation. They are the key. And without human resources Papua New Guinea we’ll never change.

“Papua New Guinea is not about mineral, its not about gold, its not about silver. Seeing kids on the streets, is not a sign of poverty in my nation. We are blessed abundantly with everything and it is just a lack of leadership,” he said.

Pake and his wife along the six staff and over 70 volunteers run Life PNG Care which supports more than 100 orphaned and disadvantaged children and youths in Port Moresby. They do this through various feeding, clothing, financial and education programs.

He thanked Hash House Harriers (HHH) for the funding saying it will used in its education program.

The social club carries out its annual ‘Red Dress Run’ event, which they held just recently, and raise funds for charities. Members raised K1,500 which was today presented to Life PNG Care.

Grand Master, Paul ‘Pulla’ Davies, said they heard about the work of Life PNG Care through a mutual friends and decided to support the charity group this year.

“It’s a great cause to assist those unfortunate kids to get them into schooling and give them a bright future,” said Davies.

Also present was Hash House Harriers Religious Advisor, Tony ‘Slab’ Witham.
