Feeder roads commissioned

Last month the people of Kambagora and Pangaripma Villages of Wewak Rural LLG in East Sepik, witnessed the commissioning of the 4.7 Kilometer feeder road between the two villages, after maintenance and upgrade works.

Contractor Ando Holdings Limited completed phase one with a 200 thousand kina funding from the Wewak District Service Improvement Program funds.

The District’s priority plans includes improving rural feeder roads that have economic potential.

Pangaripma Ward Councillor Patrick Waiwa said for 30 years, locals struggled to keep their cash crop activities going, carrying heavy loads of cargo including cocoa bags to and from the market.

The new-look road is a blessing.

In his keynote address, local MP Kevin Isufu stressed on the importance of road links, saying the District will use its funding prudently to connect more people to basic services.

The locals also welcomed the recent signing of an agreement to MiBank, of a one million kina investment incentive, to hep mothers and local entrepreneurs access funds through a soft loan facility with the bank, to start up a business venture, or help it grow.
