Cancer Foundation launches Pink Ribbon lunch

​Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation launched the Pink Ribbon lunch for 2017 this morning in Port Moresby.

In a statement, the PNGCF says it will focus on creating awareness on cancers that affect women in PNG through the Pinktober- Womens Cancer Awareness Month campaign.

This will run through the month of October.

PNGCF CEO, Dadi Toka Jnr in his remarks during the launch, thanked sponsors for the launch of the Pink Ribbon Lunch for 2017.

He said that with the current statistic from the PNG Institution of Medical Research stating that two women die every day from cervical cancer. This is a vital campaign.”

He said that the Pink Ribbon Lunch gives an opportunity to the corporate community to actively participate and support women’s cancer awareness in PNG adding that the funds will assist the PNGCF to continue their work in the country in 2018, focusing primarily on reducing the threat and impact of cancer through cancer education and awareness programs.

The Pink Ribbon lunch is set to take place on the 25th of October.

The event will include guest speakers, from PNG IMR, researcher, Dr. Andrew Valley, cervical cancer survivor, Yvonne Kariko, entertainment and a chance to learn more about cancer prevention for office and community.

Tables are selling at K3, 500 for a sitting of 10.
