Calls for help with Hela

A call is being made to all Hela elites in Port Moresby and throughout PNG, to combine relief items for the displaced people back home.

According to a recent study in the district, over 100 thousand people have been displaced over a period of almost 10 years.

This is due to the on-going tribal fighting in the area.

The situation has worsened in the last three years, following an influx of guns.

This has seen mostly women, children and the elderly flee their homes, and continue to leave in fear, constantly moving.

The Hela Meri Never Give Up association has teamed up with other NGOs and partners, including the Advancing PNG Women Leaders Network to launch this appeal.

The relief efforts strives to create dialogue among Hela elites living in Port Moresby and throughout the country to end tribal fighting in the province.

This is a step towards peace building.

In the meantime, the donations of household items will help organizations on the ground to assist the victims build their lives back.

The event is tomorrow, at CDI Building, Lokua Avenue, Section 55, Allotment 16 Boroko, National Capital, Papua New Guinea.
