“Scale, pay 50t and check your weight”

This could be an extraordinary business idea but it certainly will make a person stop, and think about their health.

Awhite Peara from Enga Province sits beside ANZ Waigani with a handwritten notice, “Scale, pay 50t and check your weight.”

Yes you are right; you can pay 50t to know your weight.

Peara started his scale business in the middle of 2015 after finding an old scale, and found that this could earn him some money when rugby league players from the Hohola Suburb started paying him 20t and 30t to check their weight.

The 54 year old now owns a brand new scale, donated to him, and earns less than K30 a day from checking commuters’ weights.

Peara said he decrease his fare from K1 to the current because of customers request.

With a smile, the quietly spoken man said, he serves many happy customers who appreciate his services.
