The Yandera Copper Project in Madang will sprout economic activities in more than five provinces such as Chimbu, Madang, Western Highlands, Eastern Highlands and Morobe.
Vice-president for Global Operations, Andre Wessels, said the project will bring about intergenerational wealth creation through the strategic road, power generation and port infrastructure.
He said it could also underpin upgrade and modernisation of the Ramu Power Grid and the extension of the Ramu Highway while providing real jobs with training and skills development and support communities along the Yandera development corridor.
Wessels added that the project would also be an important contributor to the PNG treasury via upfront investments, foreign revenues and taxes and royalties.
Global Operations has been contracted to build the project.
