SP awards staff

Gill Hara, Matilda Maimbo and David Tau were the winners for the SP staff performance awards presentation held on Friday night at the Brew Kettle in Port Moresby.

Hara, a fitter mechanic, won the Employee of the Month award for March for Behaviour: Acting as an entrepreneur (taking ownership).

Maimbo, a brewing supervisor, was the Employee of the Month for April for Behaviour: Acting as an entrepreneur (collaborating in trust).

Tau, a project engineer, took out the Safety Champion award for the months of March and April.

Brewery manager for Port Moresby, Kuri Yuwai, explained that SP awards staff every month who display exceptional behaviour and perform to the highest level.

“For the Employee of the Month, we have five sets of behaviours. So if all employees demonstrate these behaviours, the results will be excellent. The company will be successful.

“Through recommendations from the different heads of departments, we select the top employee and award them.

“For the Safety Champion, it goes to the employee who is consistently displaying safe behaviours. For instance if they continue to encourage other staff to wear glasses and earplugs when working. They take care of themselves but are also concerned about the safety of others.

“These awards help to motivate the staff to work harder and do their best,” said Yuwai.
