Seafloor tools testing continues

The testing of Seafloor Production Tools (SPT’s) by Nautilus Minerals is continuing.

The company is currently testing its Auxiliary Cutter (AC).

This follows the testing of its Collecting Machine (CM), which has indicated that the machine can perform to design specifications, and the team is now looking at operating enhancements.

The AC is a preparatory machine that deals with rough terrain and creates benches for the other machines to work. It will operate on tracks and has a boom mounted cutting head for flexibility.

Nautilus country manager, Mel Togolo, informs Loop PNG that outside of the equipment build, stakeholder engagement continues to progress well, one of which included a series of visits arranged last month for provincial government representatives and community leaders to witness the SPT trials taking place at Motukea Island.

He said the Company continues to receive strong local support for the project as a result of its health, education and infrastructure improvement programs and regular awareness meetings in coastal communities.
