Puma looks to beat production record

Puma Energy is confident of beating its previous year’s production record.

Country General Manager, Jim Collings, said this is part of improvements made to the refinery when they entered PNG.

“The investments that we have made have improved the reliability, the consistency of the product, which is now world class, coming out of that refinery and also dealing with the health and safety matters that we need to so that our people can go home safely every day,” he said.

The increase in production is part of the overall expansion and improvements to the Napa Napa Refinery, which Puma has invested heavily in.

So far, major changes have taken place with more expected over the coming years.

“We’ve invested heavily in the wharf structure, both from a safety perspective for our people, but also allow us to bring in bigger vessels so now the actual, one of the jetty’s there is now ‘suezmax’ capable.

“We’ve brought in new loading arms and those sort of things which help the productivity of the site. And then the third area that we’ve been working on is actually building new tanks and storage so we’re bringing in bigger crude vessels and now store more crude, which helps as well again in the productivity of the business,” Collings said.
