Oxford Business Group to host roundtable

The Oxford Business Group (OBG) will be hosting an industry-wide roundtable meeting to explore the investment opportunities in PNG as efforts to diversify the country's economy gain pace.

Titled “Investment opportunities and challenges in 2018 as PNG hosts APEC and focuses on Diversification”, the landmark meeting will host a high-level panel lead by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

The panel will also comprise of Minister for APEC and Lands, Justin Tkatchenko; Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited Managing Director, Wapu Sonk; PwC Managing Partner, Jonathan Seeto; Investment Promotion Authority acting managing director, Clarence Hoot; Nasfund CEO, Ian Tarutia; and Chairman and Director of Innovative Agro Industries, Ilan Weiss.

Several of the issues on the agenda at the roundtable will be explored in The Report: Papua New Guinea 2018, Oxford Business Group’s forthcoming publication on the country, including the positive impact that hosting the APEC Summit in November is expected to have across the economy.

The report will look in detail at PNG’s drive to expand the non-mineral sector, which has seen the county sharpen its focus on consumer-related services, agriculture and high-potential industries, such as tourism.

The publication will also consider whether efforts to increase macroeconomic stability are helping to improve investor confidence in the country.

The Report: Papua New Guinea 2018 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the country, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, banking and other sectorial developments. It will be available in print and online.
