New Queen Emma Chocolate range

Paradise Foods Limited has unveiled its latest range of Queen Emma Premium Chocolates, set to hit shelves in the country.

The new range are produced from an improved processing method and sourced from locally grown premium cocoa in PNG.

The new range aims to capitalise on the PNG market while also being exportable, with new product the Kina Bar, priced at K1.

Paradise Foods Limited unveiled the products which showcase a new vibrant colour scheme, design as well as taste.

CEO Michael Shields said the new range is a result of a review into the value adding process, production and recipes of the Queen Emma brand.

“Queen Emma today is seizing the opportunity to reposition and leverage as the country of choice for premium cocoa products. Queen Emma will present itself as the first natural choice both locally and internationally.”

But the company is not stopping there and is looking at further improvements and more products.

“We’re going to continue to delight you with more flavours and further product development. I know our Chairman has a passion for chocolates with almonds and I’m sure we are going to see some of those products coming out in the near future.”

Queen Emma Chocolate Brand Manager, Karina Makori, said the products are produced in line with international chocolate vendors' strategy of gaining customers.

“The key vendors in this market are launching new premium chocolates to attract customers by focusing on price, packaging, ingredients, prominence, point of purchase, authenticity and brand experience, much like what Queen Emma is doing today.”

The new range also signifies the involvement of smallholder farmers and value adding participants in the process. Paradise Foods currently engages around 2000 smallholders.

“It's been a great opportunity to create a value added product of cocoa, create employment and skills development for Papua New Guineans, and importantly support our rural farmers through or premium purchases.”

The latest products include a 15 gram Kina Bar priced a K1 as well as a new 140 gram packet.

The cocoa industry in PNG generates around K135 million in GDP to PNG.

With the global industry expected to be in the vicinity of $137 billion by 2021, Paradise Foods believes PNG has the potential to tap into this billion dollar industry.
