Local company helping youths in Morobe Province

A small scale mining in Bulolo, Morobe Province has been providing employment opportunities to youths in the area.

TRocks Construction Ltd owner Berldon Timah said the company was in operation for just only four months.

He said the purpose of setting up the small scale mining is to help the youths in the area participate in the workforce in their own area.

Timah said so far the company employed 48 workers who are on day and night shifts.

He added that the Government must look into helping such Small and Medium Enterprises and support the youths in the rural area.

Apart from setting up the small scale mining, Timah also sets up a foundation that helps the schools and hospitals in Eastern Highlands and Morobe Provinces.

The Sophia Totona Foundation, which was set up in memory of his mother, who is still alive was to help build classrooms and health aid posts in rural areas.

It is a village based foundation to help those that are in need especially in rural areas of Eastern Highland Province.

Its base is in Tirokave village in Kainantu District.

Timah commits 10 per cent from all his construction projects to the Sophia Totona Foundation which is used to help the marginalised communities.

The Foundation, with support from Timah’s company has provided help to assist disadvantaged communities with road projects and other basic services as well.

The Foundation has also funded school infrastructure and supplies in the Eastern Highlands and Morobe Provinces.

Timah said all his work was not to gain glory but to help give back to the community.
