Japan invests K3.5 billion in PNG

The Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has so far invested K3.5 billion in PNG through various technical programs.

This was revealed during the signing of agreements between JICA and the Climate Change Development Authority (CCDA) for the National ‘Greenhouse Gas’ Inventory System.

JICA PNG, Chief Representative Takashi Toyama said today the amount was equivalent to 11 billion Japanese Yen, and was invested in three technical programs to assist PNG address environment and  climate change.

The programs involve Technical Cooperation: with the Conservation, Environment and Protection Agency (CEPA); the Forest Authority and its Forest Resources Information System; The Baruni Dump upgrading project; and the upgrading of the Port Moresby Sewer System.

The latest technical support project under the climate change investment is the improvement to the capacity of the National ‘Greenhouse Gas’ Inventory System which was signed today in Port Moresby.
