Hamamas Rice enters market

Trukai Industries has launched a new product into the market that is 100 per cent commercially produced on PNG.

Hamamas Rice is the latest edition to the Trukai brand, which is produced in Morobe Province.

The launching was witnessed by Agriculture Minister, Benny Allen, in Port Moresby.

Trukai Hamamas Rice is a 100 per cent home grown rice in Rangiampum Vllage, Umi-Azera LLG, in Markham, Morobe Province.

The launch completes the introduction of a new domestic commercial production for Trukai Industries and PNG.

The rice is from 275 hectares of rainfed crop at Umi in the Markham Valley.

Rangiapum locals thanked Trukai for the opportunity to turn Markham kunai into kina.

Hamamas Rice comes in 1 kilogram packets and will be sold in selected outlets in Port Moresby and Lae for K5.20 next week and onwards.

The launching also coincides with PNG’s 43rd Independence celebration.
