BSP named “2017 Best Private Sector Employer Award”

Bank of South Pacific (BSP) on Tuesday received the “2017 Best Private Sector Employer Award” from the Papua New Guinea Human Resource Institute (PNGHRI).

The awards recognise the growing significant role of the human resource profession in all kinds of organisations in business, industry, public service, Non-Profit and Non-Government Organisations.

BSP General Manager Human Resources, Ms. Hari Rabura, when receiving the award thanked PNGHRI for recognising BSP’s efforts in HR for five consecutive year’s saying, “this could not have been made possible without the dedication and commitment of the BSP staff and its management team.”

BSP backed up by the Group CEO, Robin Fleming, realises the importance of training and development. Our Graduate Development Program (GDP) aims to recruit graduates and introduce them to the bank and financial industry while at the same time mentor and nurture them as they mature in their career.

The Leadership Management Development Program (LMDP) invests in creating pathway for growth and succession program to develop Papua New Guinean staff who will become BSP’s next generation of senior and executive managers and leaders.

The PNGHRI award has stringent criteria including Leadership, Strategic HR Focus, Continuous Improvement in Training and Development, Business Results and Corporate Social Responsibility.

“The award is testament to the level of commitment BSP has in developing our human resources. We strive consistently to ensure that what we do is aligned to best HR practices and industrial relations,” Ms. Rabura said.

“Our people continue to be trained and upskilled to be capable of managing new systems in PNG and for all the countries we operate (PNG, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and recently in Cambodia in the South East Asian Region,” she added.
